Welcome to the Billingshurst & District Rotary Club.

Our club is currently shutdown for regular face to face meetings due to Covid 19 restrictions. We hope to resume regular meetings when restrictions are lifted.

Please donate to Chestnut Tree House

In the past we have helped run Santas Grotto, which usually raises around £5,000 for Chestnut Tree House. But this year so many charity events have been cancelled, leaving them short of funds. Please help! Click here to donate via our JustGiving page.

Other Activities

Although we are shut down, we are still very active in supporting our local charities, especially Chestnut Tree House. During August to raise muchb needed funds for Chestnut Tree House we are organising 2 events.

  1. A Scarecrow Competition for all families in Billingshurst

Hi Everyone,What a fantastic display of scarecrows with 17 households entering the competition. We had a difficult job in deciding the winners, but in the end we did reach a consensus between all three of the judges. We gave first prize to Catrina and Family with runner up prizes to Mia and Maci Dewell and Abi Smith’s Family respectively. Attached are photos of the winning entries. We are also pleased to let you know that the final amount of money raised to support Chestnut Tree House was £470.Thanks to everyone who entered and we hope to do another competition next year – perhaps positioning all the scarecrows in Station Road Gardens.

2. A sponsored walk across the South Downs.

Secondly, we arranged a sponsored walk along the South Downs Way from Amberley to Birling Gap at Eastbourne.

The walk entailed some 50 miles over 7 days so that walkers could choose to do one to seven of the stages.  Two of our Rotarians, Sandy Duck and Tony Priestley, completed all seven stages with a collection of walkers from our Club, plus friends and members of Chestnut Tree House Fund Raising Team on one or more of the stages. It was good to meet and walk with the team as it enabled us to get first hand information on how they support the children and families who need the charity’s help.

Great walking, great company and fabulous views with the result that a further £3500 was raised for Chestnut Tree House.
